If staying over is not in your budget, remember that a spacation, does not have to be at a resort spa.     In fact, many day spas are set up to be an oasis in the middle of the city. 

Recently, I had the opportunity for a romantic getaway at the Glen Ivy Spa in Valencia, California.  While the temperatures were hot, the streets were filled with traffic and the sounds of screams could be heard from the rides at six flags Magic Mountain (not really it is about 10 miles away), the shops at Valencia Town Center looked like any other outdoor shopping mall.  Street parking areas were filled and many shoppers were busy going from shop to shop. I recognized the Glen Ivy Spa immediately from the sighting of the Bird of Paradise on the outside of the building.    

As we walk through the doors, we already begin to feel transformed as we were greeted with smiles, and quickly checked in.  If we did not leave our stress at the door, the moment we walked into the locker room, the sounds of the water flowing into the Jacuzzi, the calm of the wood and stone begin to embrace us as we put on our soft, warm robes. 

However, if we still had not been transformed, the minute we stepped into the solarium, a courtyard room built for the purpose of enjoying sunlight, we felt safe protected and joyous.  I believe I could have just stayed there and looked at the sky all day and would have felt happy to do so.

Our massage therapists Chelsea and Ka, they both were exceptional and truly represent the excellence that Glen Ivy stands for, took us through the doors to the Bird of Paradise room designed for our romantic beginnings.  The room was beautifully layed out, the lighting, temperature and music just perfectly set.  In the corner of the room was a large stone fireplace.  Our massages were customized for our needs, preferred aromatherapy scents, pressure and incorporated hot stones. 

Should you choose this, you may utilize the triple headed shower or just sit by the fireside enjoying the chocolate covered strawberries.  Next, we enjoyed our facials in separate rooms with Naz and Yesenia.  The products have wonderful aromas.  My hydrating facial definitely toned my eyes, minimized my wrinkles and hydrated my skin with moisture.  By now we were extremely relaxed, refreshed and revitalized ready for the rest of the romantic evening.
