Desert Springs JW Marriott

The JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort and Spa captures the spirit of the islands. Calypso bands play poolside, and tropical birds chirp melodies at this paradise in the California desert. Set against the majesty of the Santa Rose Mountains, this resort is a true oasis with its world of water. Gondolas greet guests at the lobby level, pools beckon swimmers and sun worshipers, and golfers weave their way through dramatic waterscapes on 36 championship holes. Spacious and comfortable, the guest rooms have a contemporary flavor, while the bathrooms of granite, limestone, and marble are exceedingly luxurious.

Activities are plentiful, from tennis and golf to a fitness center and an elaborate spa with salon. Dining is elevated to an activity here, with 11 restaurants spanning the globe from Italy and Japan to the Americas.

Hollywood stars and golf pros have been teeing off of Palm Desert Golf Courses for years and for good reason. True to Ted Robinson's signature style, there's more water on our beautifully landscaped championship courses than you can shake a 9-iron at

The Palm Desert has two Golf Courses. The two courses, dubbed the "Palm" and "Valley," were designed by golf course architect Ted Robinson to make good use of the water features, with reasonable elevation changes - nothing too challenging here. Also with the resort are the Greens at Desert Springs: It's a full 18-hole putting golf course, and great for children and beginning golfers.

The recently renovated spa is the real standout here. The hotel resort spa will become a destination unto itself - the sprawling size of the Desert Springs JW Marriott Spa layout is planned so that it still manages to feel personal and private; while it's large enough to guarantee any hotel guest a deluxe treatment or massage, the hushed, warm hallways, subtle whiffs of aromatherapy, and private rooms instantly relax customers. The lighting, just dim enough, factor into the intimate, personal feeling here too. This deluxe spa was honestly worth every penny the resort put into it. The special spa room for ayurvedic treatments, and the couple's Revive Suite, are especially pampering and luxurious. It's a good thing that there are full- and half-day special services; Luxury Travel could have stayed in the spa all day.
