About Marie Bernat
Marie Bernat the COO of Spavelous LLC, was born and raised in Commack, Long Island, New York. A graduate of SUNY Farmingdale and New York University, Marie Bernat majored in Broadcast Journalism. At the age of 15, Marie began her career in the restaurant Industry with a Franchisee of Arthur Treacher’s Fish and Chips. Marie was one of the first female executives in the restaurant industry, where over her 20 years in the industry she worked her way up to becoming the Vice President of Operations. Over the years, Marie specialized in over seeing Corporate Operations, Franchise Operations, Menu Development, Purchasing, Site Selection, Franchise Development, and Marketing. Marie worked for many of the top fast food companies, including Wendy’s International, Popeye’s Fried Chicken, Golden Corral and Little Caesar’s Pizza. Marie’s was the “Queen” of turning around under performing restaurants. Within 6 months, Marie could take a company from being a losing proposition into a profitable business.
Marie’s interest in health, nutrition and the spa industry began during her five years with Nutri/Systems Weight Loss Centers. Marie started out as a Regional Manager and was quickly promoted to the Nutri/Systems National Program Director, where she developed new programs for Nutri/System and trained the centers on cost control, profitability and building sales.
In 1998 Marie’s interest in Health, Nutrition and the spa industry grew. She continued to consult in the Restaurant industry while she began her studies with Deepak Chopra. After attending an ISPA conference, Marie decided to return to school where she received her degree as a Holistic Practioner from The SouthWest Institute for the Healing Arts and became a licensed massage therapist.
Marie began working with the CopperWynd Spa in 2001 first as a contract massage therapist and taking over the Spa Director position within six months. During her close to 6 year tenure with CopperWynd, Marie has developed many of the CopperWynd Signature Services such as:
• The Romancing the Stone Menu of services. When Hot Stone Massage was just coming into the forefront, Marie took the lead in expanding this concept to Hot Stone Euro Stone Facials, Hot Stone Pedicures, and a stone symphony which featured two therapists performing a synchronized hot stone massage on one client at the same time.
• Amethyst Body Renewal Treatment: Amethyst from the Four Peaks is incorporated into this body treatment. Marie Bernat developed a secret recipe for the finishing lotion, which contains ground amethyst in a hydrating lotion.
• Cloud 9 Body Treatment: Marie designed this treatment using herbs from the southwest as an exfoliant. This treatment will put you into a deep state of relaxation.
• Sonoran Seas: Marie developed this treatment to incorporate the detoxifying red clay from the Sonoran Desert and the healing properties of the sea into a treatment that leaves your total body in balance.
• Perscentoelogy: This treatment is only performed by Marie Bernat she incorporates personality profiling using aromatherapy, reflexology, Chinese body reading, Ayurvedic dosha body types and toe reading. Marie teaches her clients on how to use positive affirmations and biofeedback to change their attitude and their life.
• CopperWynd Champagne & Rose C Facial and CopperWynd’s Champagne & Rose C Body Treatment: All natural products are used in this anti aging facial and body treatment. Grapes seeds with the power of pycogenol are used in the exfoliation, Vitamin C is used as a Peel, and Roses are used as a toner to heal and restore the skin to its natural beauty. Other key ingredients are green tea, turmeric, vitamins A, vitamin E and Papaya.
• Cellulite Parafango: Marie developed the protocol for this cellulite fighting treatment. The secret is in the ampoules that break down and purge the fluids from the area and the unique use of a one-gauge magnet to massage the area.In addition, Marie has done a lot of research to insure that CopperWynd provides their guests with the best quality products and has been instrumental in staying on top of the spa industry trends. Before it was a fad, Marie was one of the first to introduce the individual designer eyelash extensions to the Phoenix market.
Through Marie’s efforts, CopperWynd was named the #1 spa in Arizona by Ranking Arizona Magazine two years in a row (2005 & 2006)
