Cave Creek spa files for bankruptcy, employees out of work
Employees of a Cave Creek resort are out of work Tuesday after their employer filed for bankruptcy and said there’s no money to pay them.
Rancho Manana Resort and Spa filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last month and an attorney said the company has no cash to pay the employees right now.
“Customers with gift cards could be out of luck for a while too,” the attorney said.
Linda Gorshe, a former spa director told ABC15, “We are working individuals. Some of us are having trouble paying our phone bills, and some are facing foreclosure.”
Thomas Littler, an attorney helping with the bankruptcy said, “The employees are and have been a concern for the debtor from the beginning. We are working to get them paid as soon as we can within the restrictions of what we can do with the bankruptcy code.”
There is no word on when the employees could be paid.
Unfortunately, another spa has closed putting employees out of work and spa consumers with no way to redeem their gift certificates.
