Palm Springs: The Parker’s gluttonous midweek deal
Parker Palm Springs
When reporting travel deals, I don’t make it a practice to cover the same hotel repeatedly, unless there’s good reason (and there usually isn’t). But once in a while a deal comes along that, well…warrants a post on the Parker Palm Springs for the second time in two months. This hotel’s new deal really is that interesting, but read the fine print (i.e., see the Caveat, below).
Deal: The Parker Palm Springs’ midweek spa special that I posted about last month is still on (see below). But if spas don’t put the lax in your relax, then perhaps the “Glutton’s Delight” package will win you over. Book a room starting at $199 (pre-tax and excluding the $30 nightly resort fee), and receive one $200 credit per booked night for food (but not beverages), to be used at the resort’s restaurants or through room service. Don’t worry, we won’t call you a glutton if you take advantage of this special.
When: This is valid for stays Sundays through Thursdays, now through Aug. 28, 2008. No minimum stay is required.
Caveat: This deal must be fully prepaid. No refunds. Now, read closely: The resort’s formal dinner establishment, Mister Parker’s, is closed Monday and Tuesday nights now through July 7, 2008; from July 7 to Aug. 28, it’s open for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights only. You can still get dinner any evening through room service or in the resort lounge. (Breakfast is served at the casual Norma’s; you can get lunch there too, or at the poolside Lemonade Stand).
And you do know that the thermometer has been known to register 120 degrees in Palm Springs’ summer months, right? Good, just checking.
Connect/disconnect: All rooms are equipped with complementary Wi-Fi.

Palm Springs: Midweek spa special at Parker Palm Springs
Palm Springs Yacht Club
My inner bargain-hunter loves off-season in the desert, especially when she’s looking to get in some good spa time. If you like a good pampering every now and again — or even daily — the Parker Palm Springs‘ fantastic midweek promotion might appeal to you.
Deal: Book a room for one or more nights Sunday through Thursday starting at $199 per night (pre-tax and excluding the $30 nightly resort fee), and for each paying night you receive a $200 credit toward a treatment at the Palm Springs Yacht Club, the hotel’s full-service spa facility. That’s no typo — yes, if you get the $199 rate, you are actually getting $1 more than the pre-tax price of your room to spend in the spa.
Caveat: You must fully prepay for this deal; no refunds.
You can use the credit toward any 60-minute spa service, except nail services. You can use just one spa credit per day, and you use it or lose it: You can’t carry over remaining credit from one day to the next or transfer it to another person.
Tested: When I checked, there were no rooms available under this special for May 18-22, 2008. For the next week, May 25-29, the lowest rate I found with this deal was $299 per night. I had better luck with the $199 rate for stays after June 1.
Connect/disconnect: Wireless Internet is available in all rooms, and it’s complimentary (well, included in the aforementioned resort fee anyway).
