The Health Benefits of Drinking Coffee, Inside and Out
That coffee you’re enjoying doesn’t just taste great; it is also good for you! Dr. Joe Vinson, a scientist who studies the antioxidant content of foods has indicated that coffee is the number one source of antioxidants in the American diet.
Coffee Does Body Good
Coffee is more than an antioxidant, coffee does the body well, it is beneficial for your health internally and new findings show that it is also good for your skin externally. See how Spas throughout the United States are featuring Coffee spa treatments.
Coffee as an Antioxidant
In recent years, coffee addicts around the world have welcomed the news that coffee may have antioxidant properties equal to that of black tea. These antioxidant components can supplement what people normally get from fruits and vegetables. Drinking one or two cups of coffee a day can fight free radical damaging molecules and may even reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.
Coffee Has More Fiber than Orange Juice
Doctors tell us that fiber is good for us and that antioxidants help keep us young and disease-free. Well, coffee delivers on both counts. In a Spanish study, scientists concluded that brewed coffee contained a significantly higher amount of soluble dietary fiber…than other common beverages. Coffee’s dietary fiber contains a large amount of associated antioxidant phenolics.
Over the years, there have been many studies completed on Coffee. I have gone back and forth about drinking it and not drinking it. In the end, for me, it comes down to everything in moderation.

- Coffee intake may reduce the occurrence of gallstones and gallbladder disease in men

Based on Drinking Moderate Amounts
As with almost everything in excess, coffee can be potentially harmful too. Coffee has traditionally been seen as the culprit in a long list of ailments. Common sense would, of course, say that excessive amounts of caffeine in the body can cause such problems as insomnia and heart palpitations. There is also a possibility that too much coffee can cause more toxins and fat build-up that may lead to an increase in cellulite deposits. Some coffee concoctions also deliver more calories that may result in a general body fat gain. In this sense, cellulite and coffee seem to be connected in a bad way.
- Possible Risks of Drinking Excessive Coffee
- Increases blood pressure among people who already suffer from high blood pressure
- Causes insomnia, anxiety, and irritability
- Can reduce fertility in women trying to conceive
- Can cause heartburn and indigestion
- Weight gain
- Acid Imbalance in the body
- Essential Mineral depletion
- The negative effects of coffee tend to emerge in excessive drinking so it is best to avoid heavy consumption
Coffee … the Cellulite Cure?Â
Some people couldn’t imagine starting a day without that first cup of coffee and a hot shower. Did you know that coffee is a Spontaneous beauty treatment? In fact, after reading this, you may want to start your day with your coffee in the shower.
That morning cup of coffee may contribute to your cellulite when it is consumed as a beverage. It has been established that when you drink coffee, you may gain weight and store fat. Caffeine stimulates a temporary surge in blood sugar which is then followed by an overproduction of insulin which causes weight gain since insulin’s message to the body is to store excess sugar as fat. In addition, cellulite is made up of stubborn fat deposits that also inhibit antioxidant and nutrient absorption in affected areas. This means that the positive cellulite and coffee connection cannot be obtained by drinking coffee because the antioxidant properties of coffee cannot reach affected areas easily.
Did you know that coffee when applied topically can help fight cellulite?
Topical Coffee Tones and Tightens
There seems to be some evidence that the positive cellulite and coffee connection can be seen when coffee is used as a topical application. Topical applications of coffee can be used on cellulite areas where coffee can penetrate the skin and effectively reduce the signs of cellulite.
In topical applications, coffee can help break down fat deposits. Aside from helping break fat, coffee also promotes proper blood flow which is crucial in eliminating the broken down fat and the toxins from the body. Coffee, therefore, works best against cellulite not as a drink but as a topical application.
Spas Serve Up Coffee Treatments
Dr. Susan Lark, one of the foremost authorities in the fields of clinical nutrition and preventive medicine, said that coffee along with massage is one of the best remedies she has seen for treating cellulite.
“Caffeine rubbed on the skin, like caffeine-laced anti-cellulite creams, would work to improve the appearance of cellulite,” says dermatologist and La Jolla Spa MD medical director Mitchel Goldman, who conducted a study using caffeine-laced anti-cellulite cream. Of the 34 women in the study, 25 noticed a decrease in thigh circumference.
Spas throughout the United States are serving up coffee body treatments, using coffee, coffee grounds, and green coffee bean extract. Here are a few of my favorites.

Home Coffee Spa Recipes:
Bye, Bye Venti Thighs take the grinds and minimize:
Make your cellulite treatment with caffeinated coffee grounds that work beautifully. Here’s how:
Ingredients:Â ÂĽ cup warm used coffee grounds, 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil, Plastic Wrap
The used grounds work better if they’re warm
Directions:
1. Put some newspaper on the floor of your bathroom, or stand in the shower
2. Mix about a quarter-cup of warm used coffee grounds with a tablespoon or so of olive oil. Stand on the paper and apply the coffee mixture to your cellulite areas using your hands or a loofah mitt. Don’t worry if a lot of the coffee mixture falls to the floor; enough will stick to your skin to do the trick.
3. Wrap the area in plastic wrap and allow it to remain on for several minutes.
4. Remove the wrap and brush off the excess coffee mixture. Shower with warm water.
5. This procedure is most effective when repeated twice a week.
(As with any home recipe, check a small area to ensure you do not have a sensitivity, do not use if you have any contraindications)

Green Coffee – The Anti-Aging Brew?Â
Coffee beans have yielded surprising discoveries in the anti-aging battle. Green coffee beans offer a host of health benefits without the jittery effects associated with drinking too much caffeine. And there is new news on the belief that coffee leaches calcium from the bones.
Green coffee beans have supplied a new player in the antioxidant arena. Chlorogenic acid also helps regulate metabolism. Compared to green tea and grape seed extract, green coffee bean extract is twice as effective in absorbing oxygen-free radicals.
One of the advantages of using green coffee bean extract is that the negative effects of coffee are avoided. The coffee filter removed the offending diterpenes. And levels of these diterpenes in instant coffee are low.
Other benefits of green coffee bean extract include an increase in the effectiveness of pain killers, especially for migraine medications; a reduction in the risk of diabetes; and assisting the body burn a higher proportion of lipids (fats) compared to carbohydrates, which could help with muscle fatigue for athletes and bodybuilders.
