The Woodhouse Day Spa, where clients come to relax and rejuvenate, is receiving a few treatments of its own.
The spa, 6388 W. Jefferson Blvd., is in the midst of a $1 million remodeling and expansion project that will double the size from about 5,000 square feet to about 10,000. Franchise owner Sarah Lindemann also hopes to double the staff of 26 in the next year.
Lindemann, who bought the franchise in August, has already added 13 services, including sinus and allergy relief massages, headache and migraine relief massages, organic peel facials and organic sea polish body treatments.
Construction began in early November and is scheduled to be completed by the end of February.
“I wouldn’t have been satisfied with buying the business without doing the upgrades like it needed,” she said.
Lindemann emphasizes the wellness aspects of the business. Additions will include a yoga room, tea room and enlarged men’s and women’s locker rooms with steam rooms and steam showers. The spa’s entry has already been enlarged and reopened.
The spa will be hiring massage therapists, nail technicians, estheticians, concierges and coordinators to work with scheduling and payments. The positions are part time and full time. Those who provide services are paid a 35 percent commission, Lindemann said.
