This spa at the Lodge at Torrey Pines has an oceanfront setting and surrounding forest that influence many of the treatments. There are numerous water treatments, including balneotherapy, a seawater bath in a hydrotherapy tub. Body scrubs use coastal sage and pine for exfoliation. Several facials combat aging, including a Champagne facial that uses yeast extracts and bubbly. The spa also has a list of rituals on the menu, which blend body treatments with massage. The Aromasoul Ritual, for instance, uses Chinese massage techniques to increase the flow of energy and replenish vitality.

Inspired by elements from the adjacent Torrey Pines State Reserve and Pacific Ocean, The Spa at Torrey Pines features signature treatments themed around the natural timelessness and purity of the La Jolla coastline. 

The design of The Spa at Torrey Pines takes its artistic direction from Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh. A feng shui expert was retained to advise on the layout of the 9,500-square-foot space. In addition to 14 treatment rooms, there are two locker rooms (men’s and women’s), a relaxation lounge with a fireplace, dry saunas, herbalinfused steam rooms, and aromatherapy inhalation rooms.
 
A cardio/strength room features state-of-the-art treadmills, elliptical trainers, stationary cycles, and weight-training equipment. Yoga classes and guided nature walks through the Reserve are also offered. An outdoor grand-scale pool and whirlpool take advantage of the yearround temperate weather and beautiful views.

Central to the spa experience are treatments utilizing marine and botanical-based products from the lines of Phytomer, SkinCeuticals, NV Organics and Farmhouse Fresh—reflecting the resort’s location on the coast, adjacent to the treasured Torrey Pines State Reserve. 


Sage, known for its purifying and detoxifying properties, is used in The Spa’s signature treatment, a Coastal Sage Scrub, performed in the Vichy shower. Located within walking distance from The Spa, the Reserve is home to some seventeen types of sage.All spa treatments and rituals were designed to focus on wellness and are performed to meet the needs of each individual.
