Westport’s Derma Clinic to Close Dec. 7

Westport’s Derma Clinic European Day Spa, a mainstay in Westport’s Playhouse Square shopping center for 29 years, announced today it will close on Dec. 7.

Patricia O’Regan Brown, founder and president, said in a statement it was with great regret that she was facing the reality that she must close the clinic. She cited the downturn in the economy and her current fragile health.

“When Derma Clinic opened its doors 29 years ago, it was the first and only Day Spa in Westport,” she said.

“It was an exciting time and our business grew along with the town ands its residents. We began by offering basic facials, massages and spa packages, and, over the years, expanded our services to meet the needs of our clientele.

“Derma Clinic was a little bit of heaven for the corporate world, celebrities, soccer moms, brides to be, and even macho men.”

Brown hosted many fundraising events for local nonprofits at Derma Clinic, including the Westport Police Department’s Bulletproof Vest Fund, the Women’s Crisis Center and the “Celebration in the Square” gala to benefit Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Camps.

In making her announcement, Brown added, “We so appreciate everyone’s patronage and support, and want to see as many of our clients as possible before we must close our doors.

“Please stop by to enjoy one more facial or massage with our wonderful staff members, use your gift certificate, or simply to give us the opportunity of thanking you in person.”

Derma Clinic said its gift certificates will be honored through Dec. 7.
