AHA  Alpha hydroxyl acids or AHAs are commonly found in many different concentrations in various products.  The most common types are glycolic, lactic, malic, citric and tartaric acids which remove the topmost layer of the skin for a rejuvenated appearance.
Alakali A Substance That Is Used To Neutralize Acids And Is Used In The Soap Making Process.
Albino A Person Who Has No Pigmentation In The Eyes, Hair, Or Skin.
Algae The Terms Algae And Seaweed Are Often Used Interchangeably, Which Causes Some Confusion. Seaweeds Are Algae That Have A Particular Growth Form, But The Term Algae Also Includes A Wide Range Of Other Terrestrial And Aquatic Organisms With Different Evolutionary Histories. Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) Naturally-Occurring Acids Found In Sugar Cane And Citrus Fruit. Ahas Include Lactic Acid, Malic Acid, Citric Acid, Glycolic Acid, And Pyruvic Acid. Glycolic Acid Is The Most Popular Of The Ahas, Because It Has The Smallest Molecular Structure And Most Easily Penetrates Into The Skin’S Surface. Ahas Have The Ability To Remove And Loosen Cells From The Stratum Corneum (Skin Surface), Causing The Skin To Look Smoother And Making Wrinkles Less Noticeable. The Use Of Ahas Also Helps Retain Moisture In The Surface Layers Of The Skin.  Over-the-counter skin care products containing alpha-hydroxy acids (glycolic, lactic, tartaric and citric acids) have become increasingly popular over the last five years. You want to get your skin used to alpha-hydroxy acids, so you should only initially apply the skin care product every other day, gradually working up to daily application.
Alpha-Lipoic Acid You may have heard of alpha-lipoic acid as "the miracle in a jar" for its anti-aging effects. It's a newer, ultra-potent antioxidant that helps fight future skin damage and helps repair past damage. Alpha-lipoic acid has been referred to as a "universal antioxidant" because it's soluble in both water and oil, which permits its entrance to all parts of the cell. Due to this quality, it is believed that alpha-lipoic acid can provide the greatest protection against damaging free radicals when compared with other antioxidants. Alpha-lipoic acid diminishes fine lines, gives skin a healthy glow and boosts levels of other antioxidants, such as vitamin C.

Beta-Carotene A natual chemical found in carrots, beta-carotene is converted to vitamin A, or retinol, which is an antioxidant that helps to reduce the effects of sun damage.
Beta-hydroxy Acid (Salicylic Acid) Salicylic acid also has been studied for its effect on skin that has aged prematurely due to exposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun. It exfoliates skin, and can improve the texture and color of the skin. It penetrates oil-laden hair follicle openings and, as a result, also helps with acne. There are many skin care products available that contain salicylic acid. Some are available over-the-counter and others require a doctor's prescription. Studies have shown that salicylic acid is less irritating than skin care products containing alpha-hydroxy acids, while providing similar improvement in skin texture and color.

Bioflavonoids  Naturally Found Throughout The Plant Kingdom. Bois De Rose Oil  Used For Many Skin Problems From Irritation And Dryness To Puffiness And Congestion. It Is Extracted From The Rosewood Tree.
Botanical   Botany is the scientific study of plantlife. It is generally related to herbology as well. 
Botulinum Toxin  A neurotoxin which, when used in very low doses, relaxes or temporarily paralyzes the contractive muscles which cause frown lines.  Treatment is non-surgical in the form of injections which smooth deep persistent lines between brows or in the forehead.  Botulinum toxins paralyze facial muscles, whereas hyaluronic acid fills in the space beneath wrinkles.  Each acts in a different way, but may be used to complement each other.

Bromelain  A Proteolytic Enzyme (Digests Proteins), Obtained From The Pineapple Plant, A Perennial Herb With Many Varieties. The Bromelain May Be Derived From Either The Stem Or The Fruit Juices. Bromelain Hydrolyzes Proteins And Digests Dead Cells On The Surface Of The Skin.
Brossage Brushes And Salicyclic Salt Are Used To Polish The Body, Producing A Fine Skin Texture.
Brushing Machine Brushes Rotate At Different Speeds To Slough Off Dead Cells And Grime That Cling To The Surface Of The Skin.
Burdock Extract  Extracted From The Root And Used For Its Healing Properties On Acne Skin. Excellent As A Cleansing Extract On Oily Skin Conditions And Extremely Effective On Refining And Clearing The Skin.

Cedarwood Oil  Extracted From The Plant, Junipius Virginiana. Stimulating, Antiseptic And Revitalizing, The Oil Is Used For Sluggish And Sallow Skins To Stimulate Blood Circulation And Oxygenation.
Cellex-C  A cosmetic product brand known for their performace enhancers. 
Ceramides Naturally occurring skin lipids that are major structural components of the skin's outer epidermal layers. 
Cetyl Alcohol  A Fatty Alcohol Which Is In The Form Of A Waxy Crystalline. Used For Its Lubricating And Emollient Properties In Skin Moisturization.
Chamomile An herb with anti-irritant, soothing, and antioxidant properties.
Chamomile Extract  Extracted From The Daisy-Like White And Yellow Heads Of The Chamomile Flowers. Popular As An Excellent Skin Soother And Anti-Inflammatory Agent. Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Herb that has been shown to have anti
Chemical Bath Natural Or Artificial Salt Baths Aid In Treatment Of Fractures, Dislocations, And A Variety Of Illnesses. Oxygen Introduced Into The Bath Through Tubes Along The Tub Bottom Has A Soothing Effect And Is Useful With Hypertension, Cardiac Disease, And Insomnia. Deeper Penetrating Procedures With High Concentrations Of Exfoliating Chemicals Are Intended For A Dermatologist’S Use.   The application of a chemical solution to improve the texture of facial skin by removing its dulled or damaged outer layers.  Phenol, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and high strength Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA) are often used for this purpose.
Chinese Schizandra Berry (Schizandra Chinensis)  Like Ginseng, Schizandra Is An Adaptogenic Agent That Improves Overall Health And Is Specifically Indicated Function (Lethargy). Research On This Plant Has Focused On The Forty Active Lignans, A Type Of Plant Carbohydrate, Found In This Species. These Compounds Have Demonstrated Greater Antioxidant Properties Than Both Vitamins C And E In Fighting Free Radicals, Hence The Claims That Chinese Schizandra Is Anti-Carcinogenic And Anti-Mutagenic.

Claustrophobia The Fear Of Being Enclosed In Narrow Spaces. During A Body Wrap, A Client May Experience Claustrophobia And The Therapist Must Always Be On Hand To Remove Them The Client From The Wrap Quickly.
Clay A Variable Group Of Fine-Grained Natural Materials That Is Usually "Plastic" When Moist And Are Mainly Mineral In Composition.
Cleanser   Skin cleaner, designed to remove old cosmetics, dead skin and dirt from skin. 
Cleansing gel   Skin cleaner in the form of a gelatenous cream. 
Cleansing milk   White visous liquid designed to wash away dirt, grime and dead skin. 
Cleansing oil   Essential oils designed to clean and moisturise the skin. 
Clove Oil Extracted  From The Plant, Eugenia Caryophyllata. Used For Its Anti-Inflammatory Properties.
Cold Plunge Deep, Cold Water Pool Plunge Causing Rapid Contraction Of The Capillaries; Stimulates Circulation After Sauna.
Collagen  A protein forming the structural grid that holds other skin structures within the middle layer of the skin. Is The Major Fibrous Protein Of The Extracellular Connective Tissues And Comprises From 25% To 35% Of Our Body'S Protein. Soluble Collagen Can Be Compared To A Sponge Because Of Its Ability To Trap Water In Its Intercellular Spaces. As Collagen Ages, The Fibres Aggregate Into Larger Collagen Strands And Become Less Soluble. This Less Soluble Condition, Plus The Addition Of Calcium Deposits, Squeezes The Moisture Out, Induces Further Aggregation Of Collagen And Causes Shrinkage Of The Fibre Length.
