NEW YORK (Whiteface Mountain)
Whiteface Mountain has the greatest vertical drop east of the Rockies, 3,430 feet, and its race courses are fully sanctioned for international competitions. Whiteface was rated the number one ski resort in the Eastern United States by Ski Magazine readers from 2002-04 and is ranked second entering the coming winter campaign. The Whiteface / Lake Placid region has been rated the number one resort in North America for off-hill activities by these readers for 14 consecutive years. Whiteface also won the National Ski Area Association’s Silver Eagle Award in 2002 for Environmental Excellence in Fish and Wildlife Habitat Protection.
Located in the majestic Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York and the Olympic village of Lake Placid, the Mirror Lake Inn is a gracious traditional Inn on the lakeshore with all the amenities of a modern resort. Warm mahogany walls, polished walnut floors, marble and stone fireplaces, antiques, and chandeliers provide a cozy atmosphere and understated elegance. Guest rooms range from comfortable and homey Colonial Bedrooms to luxurious Placid Suites. The environment is relaxed and friendly, in the style of true Adirondack hospitality. Here you can find a cozy corner, a crackling fire, relaxation and the gentility of afternoon tea.
The luxurious Spa features rejuvenating massages and pampering body treatments as well as a cardio-vascular exercise room with magnificent views of the lake. The Mirror Lake Ceremony is an 80 minute ceremony that begins with a ritual cleansing preparation of a warm stone and rose oil foot bath.
Warm herbal infused oils are massaged into the entire body followed by a ground rice, turmeric and jasmine body polish. After a cleansing rinse, this ceremony is completed with a luxurious hydrating crème. A jasmine facial ritual and energy balancing makes this a truly decadent and memorable experience.
